(For non-Malaysian, the subject is actually a joke inspired from our recent General Election. Rest assured that it's perfectly normal if you did not get it.)
Having an iMac is like a dream-come-true to me.
I could still remember how highly raved-about desktops from Apple were in the era when laptops were still not so common and the monitors were still of those CRT type.
Remember this?
Yes this is the first iMac which Apple first introduced in 1998. The teal-color monitor quickly caught the attention of many people especially when placed next to other computer which operated with ugly, beige colour CRT monitor. Less than a year later, Apple introduced the second generation with five bright colour. Guess that? A week after the those coloured iMac were launched, Apple announced that its most recent quarterly earnings were three times what they had been the year before, according to Time.com.
THREE TIMES!!
Now you know how popular it was, is, and will still be.
It was a dream to own the pretty iMac back then but it was so expensive! Gauge the value of RM5k 15 years back when a bowl of noodle costed only RM2.
Another issue was that iMac used Macintosh as the operating system rather than the dominating Microsoft Windows. I was not even familiar with Microsoft Windows back then so leave alone Macintosh. The word 'Macintosh' sounded totally alien to me and what i heard most about Macintosh was that it was totally different from how M. Windows works and was difficult to use. Now when i come to think of it, those statements were complete bull shit. Most probably people who said that 1200% had not used that before and had no idea how it actually works.
Even until now, there were still friends telling me THEY HEARD THAT MAC OS IS DIFFICULT TO USE.
Come on, i reckon Mac OS is the best operating system ever and it is so much, much more easier and simple to operate than Microsoft Windows. Not to forget the ingenious multi-touch function.
Ok back to topic.
So it remained as an unfulfilled dream since then... Whenever i passed by an Apple store, i just couldn't help but move my centre of attention to the iMac display. T______________T
Finally, i bought it after. freaking. 15. years!!!!
None other but the 27" iMac .
It was not my first Apple computer though. I got myself a Macbook Pro as i needed it in school so a desktop would not be feasible. The boy and I have been contemplating to get one for our new room because the stylish iMac simply makes a perfect room decor lol. But it came earlier because my MBP died on me unexpectedly... :( The logic board broke down and you wouldn't believe it costs RM1.8k to get it repaired!
RM1.8k.
Are you kidding me???
After some considerations we agreed to bring forward the iMac plan and saved the RM1.8k for now. I am still going to have it repaired if i manage to get it done at lower cost. It hurts to see the lovely MBP lying at one corner unusable. :(
So I think unboxing my dream computer deserves an entry and here it is lolol.
Have been tracking on the website ever since order was made and a week later finally the DHL delivery guy came and knocked on my door!
The 15kg giant box!
It was actually wedge-shaped with broad bottom rather than the normal rectangular shape.
Tadah!
The back.
The top part was well-protected by the thick sponge.
So was the bottom part.
To open, flip the top flap up.
And pull!
All the way down.
As usual, ultra thick styrofoam was used for extra protection.
The styrofoam was divided into upper and lower part for easy removal.
Awwww look at the ultra-thin body!
Power cord.
All wrapped up.
It was so gigantic! :O :O :O
AND VERY HEAVY TOO. The boy was unable to carry it up on his own. =______________=
For once i actually regretted getting 27" coz it was simply too big as compared to the 13" screen of my MBP. D: But i got used to it after a while and am very happy with it now. ^^
The 'hole' for power cord to pass through the stand so it won't be bent.
I still kept the cover to get rid of dust when not in use lolol
DANG DANG DANG DANG!!!
IT. IS. SO. BEAUTIFUL.
Selected the cordless keyboard without number pad and the magic trackpad. The default option was magic mouse but you could opt for trackpad at no extra cost. Trackpad was chosen as i am no longer use to mouse ever since i started using MBP.
I love love love the trackpad! Trust me, once you are used to it you will not want a mouse anymore. Not even the magic mouse!
#truestory.
This is a photo this mac showing me typing out this entry using this mac #macception.
ok that's the unboxing of my dream iMac!
It's is one month old now and i hope it will stay healthily forever. :)
