Lai Lai Casual Dining 来来红烧牛肉面

From the title you know it's gonna be all about Taiwanese Cuisines!! But apparently they have been localized to suit the majority already : /

1/
卤肉蛋饭套餐 S$13.90

The set came with a drink and a side dish of you choice. I picked the 肉燥豆腐 and 奶茶.

Pretty good but macam kiddy meal size. Sufficient for my chicky stomach lar but guys will need at least 3 bowls to be satisfied lolol.

2/
肉燥豆腐

3/
猪大肠面线 S$6.90
Awww Mee Sua my big love. I do not take oyster so large intestines is a good alternative for me :D

4/
葱抓饼 S$6.50
additional pork floss @ S$1

this was good! Way nicer than the one from Shilin. #must-try

Some times later after the first visit, the boy bought a coupon from the internet so we settled our meal at Lai Lai again =______=

5/
盐酥鸡 S$4.90

Again, fried foods can hardly go wrong.

6/
三层香肉 $4.90

Surprising good and not as fatty as what i had expecting lolol.

7/
猪扒 $6.90

Ordered this pork cutlet instead of the usual chicken cutlet. No comment on this as my brain was telling me they were too full (pun-intended just in case you did not realize) to function already lolol

kkkkkk that's all for the foodie.

Wah i have been really productive lately! There were only 11 entries being published in 2012 but in Jan 2013 itself (not even 31st Jan yet) i have already updated 7 times! Betul-betul rajinnya adik ni :D:D

Hopefully this high productivity will persist until 31st December (or until end of the world). -_-

Will be heading to Sg later for a gathering at night. I am contemplating whether i should make a trip down to 3 Inch Sin which choco and I did not manage to visit during our last trip. The molten chocolate cakes are tempting my taste buds while the ulcer residing in my mouth is protesting hard. : /

Ok lar gonna take a shower and paint my nails.

Hei Sushi

There is this Hei Sushi located nearby my ex-company. It was my birthday so the boy came and picked me for a quick lunch together :)

1/
They are halal so no bacon please.

2/
The premium sushi S$7.38

3/
Another premium Sushi S$7.38
Ebi + salmon + mango

3/
Salmon and Acovado gunkan sushi S$2.38

4/
Kakiage the all time favorite S$2.38

5/
By looking at it you could tell the quality was just meh. : / S$2.38
This is how good quality sushi should be.

6/
Can't remember the name but the topping was lobster salad. S$4.38

A bit cheat-money one! :(

i'd top-up another S$3 and get a premium item instead if i were given a second chance. Or even better, just one more kakiage and saved the 2 bucks.

Hei Sushi is definitely no match of my favourtie Kage Sushi as of now. Nonetheless, the foods were good enough to fill your stomach up when they are emptying. ;)

Kage Sushi 影寿司

I remembered it used to be called Hikage Sushi, the first Japanese Restaurant in Taman Sutera Utama area offering sushi buffet at a crazy high price of RM55++ (dinner time). I went for the buffet once and was very happy with the food. That was the one and only time i visited them because buffet is always a suffer rather than an enjoyment to me. T_T

I have no idea since when they kind of revamped their brand and is now called Kage Sushi instead. Apart from the sushi buffet, they also offer Ala Carte order from a different menu. There was this day I went with my family to celebrate mama's birthday and had their Ala Carte foods for the first time. That was when i fell in love with Kage Sushi. I thought, finally there is something much better than Nijyumaru, where foods are always overpriced and the quality of foods just doesn't worth the money paid for.

1/
LOOK AT THE GOODNESSSSSSSS #sogood

This was not a set. We ordered a few and they were served altogether.

2/
My favourite mentai aburi salmon (NOT the actual name but quite similar)

Basically it's torched salmon with mentaiko mayo. The chef has to be skillful enough to torch or flame the surface in such a way that only the top surface is lightly cooked to introduce a unique flavor yet underneath remains raw.

AWWWW SO GOOD. #drooling #must-eat

3/
This is how fresh salmon sushi should look like. Look at the texture and the color. #soooogood

4/
I actually order another fish but it was out of stock so we were asked if we'd like to have this instead.
Again i can't remember the name but it was quite pricey though -_-

It was really fresh and well-done.

5/
Soft shell crab maki. Another can't-go-wrong option lol.

Considering there are limited options of Japanese restaurant in JB area, Kage Sushi is definitely a good one to recommend. It has become my first choice for now when it comes to Japanese foods! Well, at least before i discover another good one. :)

Kyung Bok Gung Korean BBQ 景福宫韩式料理

As i type all the images of various bibimbap and those delicious korean mini side dishes just keep on appearing in my mind yet what i can get from the dining table is fried beehoon T_T

I wouldn't say i am a big fan of korean foods as what i usually ordered were bibimbap, kimchi soup and kimchi pancake. Don't really fancy BBQ as it stinks me from head to toe and it makes my meal unhealthy lolol

SO the recent good korean food hunt was at 景福宫 Kyung Bok Gung Korean BBQ. If i remember correctly this is the very first few Korean restaurants opened in JB years ago before the rest mushrooming in recent time.

1/
The interior.
There are only 2 tatami seating and the rest are normal four-seater dining tables and chairs segregated from each other by a divider.

2/
The other side of the restaurant.

3/
The menu

4/
The boy who brings me to wherever i want to go. <3 p="">

5/
FOC korean traditional rice tea

6/
The side dishes (Banchan).
There were only six of them as i believe the julienne cabbages/carrots mix was a dip, which explained why two were served.
Leewang said they served six because we ordered only 2 items lolol.

7/
The frozen pork belly RM25
It was so hard that you could throw it at your friends if they offended you in the conversation lol

8/
Sho thick slice :O

9/
Ready to eat!

10/
OH MY BIBIMBAP!! RM25
With my favourite soybean sprouts! Disliked those who used normal green bean sprouts ~.~

11/
The julienne vegetables were the biggest amongst those i had tried before -.-
They were pretty generous in the portion size though. :)

12/
omnomnomnomnom time
They used the short rice grain that is similar to japanese rice instead of the more commonly used long grain white rice.

13/
Free watermelon at the end of your meal.

It was a pleasant dining experience that day as leewang booked the entire restaurant hence there was no one else to create any disturbing noise.

KIDDING LAR the fact was that we went for lunch at 3PM ofcoz nobody would be having lunch/dinner at that hour -_-

However i was still smelly thanks to the charcoal. T_________T

So in conclusion, the foods were decent but i didn't like that they served only six banchan. I am a banchan lover so definitely the more the merrier. For this reason i may not be visiting them again considering Korean restaurants elsewhere serve equally good (if not even better foods but with more banchan. More value-for-money eh? ;) #auntie-minded

CaRFFee Coffee Bar

I first came across this coffee place when i was browsing through Instagram. The beautiful cake picture effortlessly caught my attention and I was like AWW LOOKS SO GOOD I WANNA GO!!!!!

1/
So here I was.
I find that the signboard design resembles much of those cafes in Taiwan

2/
the main entrance

3/
The entire area is divided into indoor and outdoor sections but both are air-conditioned
i liked how spacious and cozy the entire place is.

4/
awwwwwwwww my favorite cake corner.
wanted to eat ALL the cakes and i was ALWAYS full after finishing my mains =___________=

5/
The coffee menu

6/
Plenty of choices.

 7/
They serve set lunch but for dinner time only Ala Carte option is available.
I was so excited when i saw RISOTTO!! However Leewang was being rather skeptical of the quality due to the price lolol

8/
caiying = cafe latte lolol
I was asked to choose among fruity sourish coffee bean or coco bitter type and i chose the latter
It turned out that the coffee was so rich in flavor but not bitter at all. I LOVED IT!!

9/
Grilled Chicken (BBQ Sauce) with two sides of your choice

10/
Pretty big portion in my opinion.
The mashed potato was not served with any gravy but the taste was good enough to go on its own. It was smooth, slightly cheesy and creamy.

11/
And my risotto came. Looking good but…………………

12/
Macam baked rice T_______________________T

In my opinion the risotto was too dry and the grains chosen was not suitable. Seriously it just tasted like baked rice.

What a disappointment. :(

13/
The choices of cakes.

14/

Sizes of their sliced cakes were rather small, like 3cm in height?

15/
The loyalty program.
Visit them 10 times to redeem the VIP stickers but I have no idea of the benefits of being VIP.

16/
Wanted to snap a photo of the interior but I was too shy so this was what I ended up with lol

16/
Located just behind Modern Revelation @ Taman Molek, above a pub.

Craving for the cafe latte now :(

Arbite

it was actually my birthday and leewang & I were on a random trip to Serangoon Garden in hope to search for some nice foods for dinner. Walked passed Guardian and we saw this, located conveniently above it:

1/
Simple and straightforward.
You would not think they are selling things like cosmetics.

2/
The interior.

3/
The space was limited hence tables were not widely apart.

Not to talk too loudly if you do not want your conversation to be overheard lol.

4/
Cozy ambience thanks to the choice of warm lighting.

5/
the menu wall

6/
Soup of the Day $5

7/
Can't remember the name but i guess it should be Minestrone.
Taste was good and I liked it.

8/
Tagliatelle with Mushroom & Parma Ham $18.90

It was my first time trying Parma Ham and it was soooooo salty. Good to go with the bland tagliatelle in my opinion. I liked the cream sauce as it was neither too creamy nor too thick. Having that said, it is always good to have someone else to share any cream-based foods as it would still be too overpowering to have them all by yourself.

9/
Moroccan Chicken $15.90

10/

Leewang said it was a more atas version of Rendang Chicken lol

Well it was rather true as the taste was more towards Asian flavour, especially when accompanying with rice. Pretty appetizing though.

I was quite happy that the chef actually bother to put in a little bit more efforts in the presentation to compliment the dish even further.

11/
My Wife's Chocolate Cake $8

Not My Chocolate Cake so I just borrowed it for picture-taking purpose.

12/

Shouldn't have waited for so long before blogging this. I can't really recall much of the taste but it should be quite good as I was pretty happy with the meal.

13/
The vanilla ice-cream with vanilla seeds!!
Apparently they used natural vanilla bark (maybe coupled with natural vanilla essence) to bring out the good vanilla flavor.

All in all i was happy with what we ordered and I will definitely want to patronage Arbite again!!

Bye and see you soon!
